Internship - AI & Data Engineering Intern

Department: AI Special Ops
Location: Medford, OR

Plexis Healthcare Systems is expanding its innovation footprint through our AI Special Ops team - a small, high-impact group focused on experimenting with emerging technologies and building next-generation AI-enabled products. PLEXIS is in need of an energetic and creative intern to help build our AI Special Ops team.

Internship Position Purpose

This internship position will assist in the design and development of scalable solutions using AI tools and machine learning models. You will help operations by establishing metrics, analyzing processes, and implementing standard methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables. You will also help implement AI strategy, ensuring the solutions comply with AI and machine learning standards and ethics. Collaborates and partners with cross-functional teams to align priorities and drive projects forward

Core Duties & Supporting Skills Development

Duties:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines and ETL processes.
  • Support data preparation, cleaning, and transformation for AI and analytics projects.
  • Collaborate on the design, training, and evaluation of machine learning models.
  • Help deploy and monitor models in production environments.
  • Contribute to documentation, testing, and performance tuning of data workflows.

Preferred Skills:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Python, SQL, and data frameworks (e.g., Pandas, Spark).
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Physical Activities and Requirements of this Internship Position

  • Ability to access input and retrieves information from a computer to produce typed copy
  • Capacity to communicate adequately, in person or via telephone, in a manner, which can be understood by those with whom the Client Support Specialist is speaking
  • Capability of dialing or otherwise using a telephone to place and receive telephone calls
  • Willingness and capacity to sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time
  • Capacity to pick up, leaf through and read books and files and other materials
  • Ability to reach forward, up, down and to the side in order to move equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with competing deadlines and changing priorities

This is a paid internship at $16.00/hr.
