Internship - AI Operations & Automation Intern

Department: AI Special Ops
Location: Medford, OR

Plexis Healthcare Systems is expanding its innovation footprint through our AI Special Ops team - a small, high-impact group focused on experimenting with emerging technologies and building next-generation AI-enabled products. PLEXIS is in need of an energetic and creative intern to help build our AI Special Ops team.

Internship Position Purpose

As an AI Ops & Automation Intern, you will support the design, implementation, and optimization of AI-driven operational workflows and automation systems. You’ll work with engineering and development teams to streamline processes, monitor AI model performance, and enhance the reliability and efficiency of automated systems across our software platform.

Core Duties & Supporting Skills Development

Duties:

  • Assist in developing and maintaining AI-driven automation tools and workflows.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance for AI models and automated processes.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to deploy and manage automation pipelines.
  • Support troubleshooting, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Research emerging AI Ops tools, MLOps frameworks, and automation best practices.

Preferred Skills:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with Python, scripting, and automation tools (e.g., Airflow, Jenkins).
  • Understanding of AI/ML workflows and model lifecycle management (MLOps).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills.

Physical Activities and Requirements of this Internship Position

  • Ability to access input and retrieves information from a computer to produce typed copy
  • Capacity to communicate adequately, in person or via telephone, in a manner, which can be understood by those with whom the Client Support Specialist is speaking
  • Capability of dialing or otherwise using a telephone to place and receive telephone calls
  • Willingness and capacity to sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time
  • Capacity to pick up, leaf through and read books and files and other materials
  • Ability to reach forward, up, down and to the side in order to move equipment up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with competing deadlines and changing priorities

This is a paid intern position of $16.00/hr.
